Bamboo Pole
Terffy sells a variety of quality bamboo poles harvested in a socially responsible manner. Bamboo poles can be used for heavy construction projects, bridges, art installations, fences, gazebos, furniture, cladding, ceilings and more.

All of our bamboo poles for sale are sustainably harvested from mature stalks and treated to last for at least 30 years (if used correctly). Boron-treated bamboo is best used indoors, i.e. not in direct contact with outdoor elements (buried in soil, or exposed to sun or rain). If used for outdoor applications, the poles should be coated with a water and UV resistant oil. The coating should be reapplied annually to ensure maximum durability.
Appearance: Overall sandy/beige in color. Exhibits slight rippling. Also known as Giant Wooden Bamboo due to the very thick sidewalls. Rustic appearance, but may be treated with polyurethane to exhibit a slight sheen that is more suitable for more delicate applications.
Grades (Interior & Exterior): Ideal for interior and exterior applications.
Fire Resistant: Yes - pre-treated by sap displacement
Durability: For all applications where durability is required, especially in humid and tropical climates
Size: Ranges from 2" - 6" in diameter and 8' - 19' in length
Strength: Very strong, widely used as construction bamboo in Central and South America for bridges, houses, public buildings, etc. Has the tensile strength of steel.
Stainability: Can be stained - prepare the bamboo by lightly sanding the surface.
Treatment Process: Individual Guadua poles are treated with proprietary chemicals for insects. These chemicals have anticorrosive, anti-microbial and flame retardant properties.

Maintenance
The best bamboo slats require very little maintenance. When they are dried to <20% moisture, changes in temperature and humidity cause little to no warping or cracking of the poles. Poles can be kept clean by simply washing with soap and water. We also recommend using warm water and white vinegar followed by linseed oil to keep them healthy is always a good idea.
Again, stained and fire-treated poles require little to no maintenance. The color of a properly dyed bamboo pole will not fade over time. However, as with all organic products, some fading may occur over the years or in direct sunlight.
